KoÉ at The National Club Championships 2026

April 28, 2026

Knights of Éanna turned out in force for The National Club Championships 2026 and it's sister event The Queen Maeve Cup - with the added bonus that the events took place on home turf in Coláiste Éanna this year.

It was a fantastic weekend of chess with strong teams, a big turnout from across the country and a great atmosphere throughout the venue. It was especially nice to see so many familiar KoÉ faces competing, supporting and helping make the weekend a success.

In The National Club Championships, our club was represented by Oisín, Shrook, Aleksander, Conor, Eoin, Derek and Darragh. After a very strong performance, Knights of Éanna finished on 8 points, level with eventual winners Gonzaga and third-place Master Chess Club, with the final standings decided by tie-breaks.

You can check out chess-results for all the pairings and results, and Lichess for the live boards.

Queen Maeve Cup

Meanwhile, the Queen Maeve Cup saw a huge KoÉ presence, with five Knights of Éanna teams taking part out of 18 teams in total. The event was won convincingly by Irish Chess Technology Ltd. led by Trisha and Tarun Kanyamarala. Dublin and Chess Kings came in second and third place.

Thank you to everyone who helped in organising and running the events, and to all the players who helped create such an exciting and competitive weekend of chess.

Congratulations to all the winners, and well done to everyone who represented Knights of Éanna across both events!
