Éanna Classic 2026 Report

October 5, 2026

The Éanna Classic returned to Knights of Éanna from 2–4 October 2026, with over 100 players competing across the Masters, Championship and Challengers sections over five rounds.

The tournament drew a strong field across all three sections, with 31 Knights of Éanna players taking part - almost a third of the entire field and a fantastic turnout from our own members supporting the event.

Tournament Results

Three share first in the Masters

There was nothing separating the leading trio in the Masters, as Oisín Ó Cuilleanáin, WGM Shrook Wafa and CM Andrey A. Ivanov all finished on 4/5 to share first place.

It was an especially strong result for Knights of Éanna, with two of our Armstrong players, Oisín  and Shrook, sharing top honours in the strongest section.

Hong Nhung Nguyen took the Women's Prize with 3.5/5, while Muhtarim Ul-Haque, also on 3.5/5, won the U2050 Grading Prize.

Clear winner in the Championship

In the Championship, Shaurya Dash produced an excellent performance to take clear first place on 4.5/5.

There was another excellent result for our club, with Knights of Éanna's Darragh Greenan finishing joint second with Brian Gallagher on 4/5, despite being seeded 17th in a very strong 45-player field.

Angel Mariya Boby won the Women's Prize with 2.5/5, while Indrajit Desai claimed the U1700 Grading Prize with 3.5/5.

Perfect score for one Challenger

The outstanding score of the weekend came in the Challengers, where Eavan Gleeson won all five games to finish on a perfect 5/5 and take clear first place.

Shreyansh Duppalapudi and Jeswin Thomas shared second on 4/5, while Knights of Éanna's own Eva Sharma won the Women's Prize with 3.5/5.

The Unrated FIDE Grading Prize went to Andrew Anderson, also on 3.5/5.

A strong weekend for Knights of Éanna

With 31 club members competing across the three event, there was a huge Knights of Éanna presence throughout the weekend and a great atmosphere among the members.

We were particularly delighted to see standout results for the club at the top of each section from Oisín, Shrook, Darragh and Eva. A special mention to James A. and Kiaan who took part in their first tournament for KoÉ.

There were also plenty of strong performances throughout the field from Knights of Éanna players, making it particularly rewarding to see so many club members competing in a major weekend tournament on home ground.

A big club effort

The tournament was overseen by arbiter Henry Williams, with a lots of Knights of Éanna volunteers as usual who gave their time across the weekend to help everything run smoothly and support their club!

From setting up and helping players to the many less visible jobs involved in running a tournament of this size, the event was a real club effort.

A huge thank you to Henry, to all of our volunteers and organisers, and most of all to all the players who took part and made the weekend such an enjoyable and competitive celebration of chess.

Congratulations to all of our prize-winners and to everyone who competed. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Éanna Classic again.
